About Image Flipper

What this page solves

Image Flipper solves the privacy and friction problem of typical online tools — it never uploads, never asks for a signup, and runs in your browser.

Image Flipper is a free in-browser image tool that lets you flip images horizontally or vertically without uploading your photos to any server. It is built for designers, content creators, marketers, and everyday users who need quick, private image edits — whether you are preparing assets for a website, resizing photos for social media, or compressing files before sending them by email. All processing uses your browser's Canvas and Web APIs, so your images stay on your device the entire time. EXIF metadata (camera model, GPS coordinates, capture date) is read locally — useful when you need to inspect a photo's origin without trusting a third-party "EXIF viewer". Output downloads directly to your device — there is no "share link" the recipient (or the service) can revisit later. Image Flipper loads as a small bundle and is interactive within a second on mid-range phones, so it is practical to use it from a phone while away from a desk. There are no watermarks, no quality compromises from third-party servers, and no waiting in upload queues. Image Flipper is part of our Image Tools suite — a unified set of tools for every step of an image workflow. If you also need a complementary utility, try our Image Resizer. It is free, has no signup, and works with the formats you actually use: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG, and BMP.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between flipping and rotating?

Flipping mirrors the image across an axis, so text becomes backwards. Rotating turns the whole image, so text stays readable but sits at an angle. If a photo shows reversed lettering, you want a horizontal flip, not a rotation.

Why is my selfie mirrored?

Most front cameras show a mirrored preview because that is how you see yourself in a mirror, and some save it that way. A horizontal flip corrects it — most obvious when there is text in the shot.

Does this lose quality?

Flips and 90-degree rotations rearrange pixels without resampling, so the operation itself is lossless. The image is re-encoded on download, which costs a negligible amount at high quality.

Can I rotate by an arbitrary angle?

Only 90-degree increments here. Arbitrary rotation requires interpolation and leaves empty corners that need cropping or filling, which needs a full image editor.
